It has been a mild week up here on the Ledge, we continue to wrap up the end of this season and prepare for 2024! Lots of hearty winter crops growing in the greenhouses and high tunnels to make sure we’ll be ready to hit the ground running and provide you with the best quality produce this coming spring. Lots of kale and spinach going in the ground, so we expect a good crop come springtime.

As we look to entering the new year, we want to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of CSA (Community Sustained Agriculture) and its role in keeping small scale, local farming alive in our communities. In our CSA model, farm supporters pay a lump sum up front at the beginning of the year, and once the produce is ready come spring and summer, can place orders at their convenience for whatever produce is available on the farm that week. The balance is deducted from the members initial deposit and more money can be added on at any point in the season if it runs out.

Some reasons to support our CSA:

  • Become more involved in sustainable local farming in your community

  • Help keep Ledge Top Farm running in the early season
  • Get first and best choice of all your favorite produce we have available
  • Never have to worry about bringing cash for your order
  • When you sign up in January, get an extra 10% on your account

Not only do CSA models help provide members with consistent and easy access to fresh and local produce, they also play an important role in keeping small farms like ours running throughout the entire year. Becoming a member of our CSA directly ties you as a customer to the success and future of the farm by helping provide the funds needed to operate the farm in the early months of the year. So if you are looking to be more involved in the community and the food that you eat, consider joining our CSA for the 2024 season! CSA memberships will open for registration in January, so if you are an existing CSA customer or someone new, keep an eye out in your emails in the coming months. The earlier you sign up the better, we offer a 10% discount to everyone who registers in the month of January! (That’s more money in your pocket and more vegetables in your fridge!) Questions about the structure of our CSA program can be directed to our email.

Our final Peterborough Farmers Market for the season will be this Wednesday December 20th. We thank everyone for turning out week after week and making this a great season not only for us, but for the market as a whole.

Only two more weeks of farm pickup for CSA customers and cash orders as well. Put your order in anytime and it will be waiting for you at the stand. Make sure you get a conformation on your order to be sure we got the message. Let us know the day and time you can pick up. A reminder to CSA customers that orders are only accepted through the end of December, so use your money up while you can!

Here’s what’s available this week:

Salad mix $5 per bunch

Cabbage $3 per head

Green leaf lettuce $3 per bunch

Garlic $3 per head

We do have non salable winter squash that has surface damage or too small for the asking. No charge.
