The winter squash crop is almost at an end. There are very few left and the field is almost picked out. There are a few green pumpkins left. This is a big contrast from 2022 when we had bushels still to sell at this time of the year. We think that the excessive rains and cooler temperatures contributed. We could not keep up with fertility of the soil and the rain washed the nutrients out of the sandy soil. Even though we planted just as much the yields were much lower. Next year we will have to take that into account.
We are growing pea shoots again. Great on salads or stir fry. Tastes like peas.
Chickweed micro greens are available. Very nutritious. Great on salads.
Farmers markets are coming to a close or going inside.
Francestown is reducing their hours from 4pm to 6 pm on Friday. Markets end Oct 27th at the horse sheds in Francestown.
Peterborough market will continue from 3-6pm outside at the Community Center in Peterborough.
Milford will continue outside until just before Thanksgiving, Saturday on Elm Street, Milford, across from the antique shop, and the Agway. Hours are 10-1PM.
Pick up at the farm is always available until the end of the year. Put your order in anytime and it will be waiting for you at the stand. Make sure you get a conformation on your order to be sure we got the message. Let us know the day and time you can pick up.
